WATCH: Steam locomotive 70000 Britannia takes to the mainline for test runs

This week, 70000 Britannia has been completing test runs on the mainline following its repair work.

In this video, captured on the first of two days of test runs – Tuesday 23rd October, sees the Britannia locomotive at Stafford on her way back from Shrewsbury.

The chime whistle can be heard as she passes through the station as enthusiasts and locals alike stand in awe as the locomotive passes by.

70000 Britannia had been running in after repair work at the Severn Valley Railway, but it was time for its loaded mainline test runs after Fridays Light Engine run from Kidderminster to Crewe.

Britannia has now completed two days of loaded test runs between Crewe and Shrewsbury via Wrexham and Chirk on the outbound and Stafford on the return trip.
