Below is the latest news from the General Steam Navigation Locomotive Restoration Society on their project to restore 35011 (21C11) “General Steam Navigation” back to original Bulleid condition.

Working Weekend

Last weekend saw the Society head to Sellindge to work on their Merchant Navy class locomotive.

Among general tasks like painting the engine to preserve components, trial fitting of newly-manufactured parts was also carried out.

From the cover picture for this article can be seen one of the recently-machined axle boxes covers trial fitted on the trailing truck.

Some components, unfortunately, couldn’t be delivered in time for the working weekend, including the trailing truck spring beam.

Anyone with questions or an interest in the project are more than welcome to have a chat with volunteers running the stand.

With annual membership costing only £10, which includes the Society’s newsletter called “The Packet” three times a year, its the perfect time to join. Donations and sponsorship of parts are also welcomed.
