With the Trust taking delivery of the rear steam chest covers, they have now been trial fitted. Work has also continued on completing the slide bars. Some finished handbrake parts have arrived and now await fitting. The pony trucks have also received attention.

Components Under Manufacture

The expansion links and transverse stays are being constructed at Stephenson Engineering, who also made the stiffening plates.

Discussions have been made on potential builders of the firebox cladding, in particular, the more sophisticated sections.

Supporting the trust

A year ago the Trust set up the Future Fund, which although won’t be needed until the engine enters service, members feel its important to have a reserve of money kept just in case an issue occurs.

We will never know what the future brings, this being highlighted by the recent events involving “Tornado”. More information on the Future Fund will appear in the Trust’s March Newsletter.

Annual membership only costs £20, with the trust also welcoming one-off donations and monthly standing orders.
