6880 Betton Grange Society Ltd has released an update on the progress on the work being taken on the new tender for steam locomotive 6880 Betton Grange.

The team has been working for weeks at rubbing down the tender, in some places down to the bare metal.

Finally, the team has now started on painting the tender, into GWR Green. This is a dusty job, and it is also time-consuming – but the progress is very welcoming.

The team has also made a start on the blast pipe for the locomotive. All of this progress means 6880 is one step closer to steaming for the first time.

Work on the tender has been completed by Mick, Lynn, Robin, Paul, Saul, Paul, Quentin, Richard, Ben and newcomers John, and Chris.
