August has seen work continue on the ‘bottom-end' of the steam locomotive 82045 at the Severn Valley Railway.

Pony Trucks

Machining work on the axleboxes has continued. Once completed, the axleboxes will be sent off for specialists to carry out white metalling work.

Also, the radial arms' kingpin holes have had their bushes fitted. Other stored parts for the pony trucks have been prepared ready for use.

Cylinders

Only one more steam chest liner has to be machined before all four are completed. The outer cladding for the cylinders is being assembled and slide bars are having their security holes drilled, refitted then reamed.

Sponsorship

Only one part for the pony trucks is left for sponsorship since the last update. This being a side check spring bar, costing £900. The Trust appreciate all the support by these items being sponsored.
