Community Rail Lancs has announced that trains between Blackburn and Manchester/Southport via Todmorden were fully reinstated this morning following the May timetable change.

The reason that trains were cut was that after the May timetable change was introduced, passengers across its network faced delays as a common occurrence.

Northern decided it was better to cut some services and make sure that they could provide an efficient timetable with the cuts made.

Other train networks, such as the Lakes Line and the Colne to Blackpool South lines were also cut. These are awaiting the timetable to be reinstated, which are working towards.

This reinstatement means that passengers can now travel between Blackburn and Southport via Accrington, Burnley Manchester Road, Todmorden, Littleborough, Smithy Bridge, Rochdale, Manchester Victoria, Salford Cresent and Wigan Wallgate.

  • Northern are still a disgrace no matter what they have done to people and commuters being affected by the strikes and services being cancelled and delays on Northern trains that made people find alternate arrangements to get to where they want to go.

I think Arriva needs to get rid of the Northern Rail franchise and let the government take over the troubled franchise in the North of England which serves Lancashire, most parts of Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, Cumbria, County Durham, Tyne & Wear and Northumberland.

Aswell some parts of the West Midlands (including Staffordshire & Cheshire) and the East Midlands (including Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire).
