Steam locomotive No.80078 to visit The Watercress Line

The Mid Hants Railway has announced that Standard 4MT steam locomotive No.80078 will be joining the line up at their Autumn Steam Gala.

80078 joins GWR Prairie No.5199 (announced yesterday) and GWR ‘Manor’ No.7822 ‘Foxcote Manor’ along with the home fleet for the intensive timetabled gala.

The locomotives visit is thanks to the Stewart Robinson.

Mid Hants Railway’s gala will feature an intensive timetable, with both passenger and freight trains featuring.

2018s visit also marks the second time that 80078 will visit the Mid Hants Railway, having visited in 2017 as part of the End of Southern Steam Gala

A brief history of 80078

Standard ‘4MT’ No.80078 was built at Brighton Works, entering service in 1954. The locomotive original worked the London, Tilbury and Southend line until she came under Western Region ownership in 1962 where she moved to Shrewsbury Shed and onto Croes Newydd, in Wrexham.
