Steam locomotive No.60009 Union of South Africa will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Swanage on Thursday 13th September 2018.
The A4 locomotive is on a special rail tour from London Victoria to Swanage.
The steam locomotive will depart the London Victoria at approximately 08:45 am.
The railtour will then leave the London Victoria, bound for Swanage, where it will steam through Clapham Junction (09:01), Brentford (09:15), Hounslow (09:21) and Feltham (09:25) before stopping at Staines at 09:31.
After a 2-minute break, the locomotive will depart Staines for Swanage, where it will make stops at Woking (10:03), Winchfield (10:28) and Basingstoke (10:52), after steaming through Eastleigh (11:34), it will make a stop at Southampton at 11:52.
Departing Southampton Central at 11:55, the tour will make two final stops at Beaulieu Road (12:12) and Bournemouth (12:49) before stopping at Wareham (13:11) and onto the Swanage Railway before arriving at Swanage at 14:00.
On the return journey, 60009 Union of South Africa will join the train at Southampton Central. A diesel locomotive will depart Swanage at 16:55 where it will then stop at Wareham (18:11) and Poole (pass 18:27) before stopping at Bournemouth at 18:46.
Departing Bournemouth at 18:49, the train will make the same route back to London Victoria. The train will make stops at Southampton Central (19:22 – where 60009 is attached), Basingstoke (20:52), Brookwood (21:28), Woking (21:46) and Staines (22:16) before arriving back into London Victoria at 23:07.
