Steam locomotive in Norwich this Saturday – where and when to see it!

Steam locomotive No.60009 Union of South Africa will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Norwich on Saturday 8th September 2018.

The A4 locomotive is on a special rail tour from Norwich to Chester.

The steam locomotive will depart the Norwich at approximately 06:55 am.

The railtour will then leave Norwich, bound for Chester, where it will make stops at Wymondham (07:13), Attleborough (07:27), Thetford (07:47) and Brandon (07:59) before stopping at Peterborough at 09:34.

After a 4-minute break, the locomotive will depart Peterborough for Chester, where it will pass through Oakham (10:11), Melton Mowbray (10:49), Leicester (stop at 11:08), Nuneaton (11:35), Tamworth (11:26), Lichfield Trent Valley (12:32), Stafford (12:58), Crewe (13:24).

The steam locomotive will arrive at Chester at 14:31.

Departing Chester at 17:09, the train will take a slightly different route back to Norwich. The train will stop at Atherstone (18:43), Leicester (19:47), Peterborough (21:42), March (22:09), Brandon (22:53), Thetford (23:06), Attleborough (23:26) and Wymondham (23:38) before arriving back into Norwich at 23:56..
