Steam locomotive 7714 to visit the Llangollen Railway

The Llangollen Railway have today announced that steam locomotive 7714 will be visiting the line for their Autumn Steam Gala.

7714 will be visiting the Autumn Steam Gala between the 12th and 14th October 2018.

The locomotives joins 46521 from the Great Central Railway along with the home fleet to provide an intensive timetable on all three gala days.

This visit is thanks to the Severn Valley Railway.

About 7714

No. 7714 is a GWR Collett class of Pannier Tank, currently based at the Severn Valley Railway, it is one of two examples of this class at the heritage railway in Bridgnorth. The locomotive was built in 1930 for Great Western Railway by Kerr Stuart & Co. of Stoke. It entered service at Tyseley in 1930 and worked all the way up to January 1959 when it was withdrawn, having run for 520,000 miles in service. It acted as a spare engine at the Penallta Colliery near Rhymney in South Wales under the National Coal Board until arriving at the Severn Valley Railway in 1973.
