Tornado Railtours has announced that steam locomotive 60163 Tornado has had a fire lit in preparation for its testing.

The fire being lit allows the team to make the final checks on the locomotive before running in can commence.

60163 Tornado suffered a failure whilst hauling the Ebor Flyer earlier in 2018, and the team at the have been working hard ever since to fix her back up and get the locomotive back on the mainline.

Once the final checks have been made, running in at the Nene Valley Railway can begin. Once the running in has been completed, a loaded mainline test will be completed to make sure that Tornado is back up to scratch for running mainline tours once again.

After all of these checks are completed, and a mainline test is approved, 60163 Tornado can return to the mainline once again (once all timings have been announced, we will report these once more).

This is superb news to report on, and we look forward to seeing 60163 Tornado back on the mainline in the future.
