The Bahamas Locomotive Society has announced that LMS Jubilee No.45596 Bahamas is set to be officially steamed for the first time since 1997 this week.

The locomotive will be steamed for the first time following its £1 million overhaul on Friday 28th September 2018.

The overhaul has been supported by a £776,000 Heritage Lottery Fund grant, which has included the development of an educational program, and the recently opened Learning Coach which is based at Ingrow West.

The steaming of Bahamas on Friday is for members and donors who have helped to restore Bahamas, however, the locomotive will be on view for the whole weekend at Tyseley's Open Weekend – which is open to the public.

Following the open weekend, the locomotive will enter extensive testing. This is to make sure it can operate on heritage railways and on the mainline. Once this is complete, Bahamas will return to its base at Ingrow West. It will then be made available for mainline tours.

Although Bahamas is planned to be steamed this weekend – it isn't guaranteed. Please be aware that its steaming can be changed or cancelled at any time without prior notice.
