The Swanage Railway has announced that steam locomotive 44871 will be joining them for their Autumn Steam Gala.
Their Autumn Steam Gala will be held from 12th – 14th October 2018
44871 joins 6233 ‘Duchess of Sutherland' and BR Standard 4MT 80078 alongside the home fleet to operate an intensive timetable.
44871s visit is thanks to Riley & Sons (E) Ltd and West Coast Railways.
About 44871
44871 is owned by Ian Riley and is usually seen hauling mainline tours, such as “The Jacobites” in Scotland, from Fort William to Mallaig, with fellow Black 5 45407 ‘The Lancashire Fusilier' and K1 62005.
Returning from a recent overhaul in 2017, 44871 also spends time at heritage railways, such as the East Lancashire Railway.
