The Swanage Railway has announced that steam locomotive No.34072 ‘257 Squadron' has hauled its first passenger service after maintenance.

It is almost 16 years since the locomotive last hauled a train, and thanks to endless hours of hard work from the volunteers and staff, the locomotive ran a train on the today.

The locomotive joined 80104 on the 14:00 departure from Swanage and sounded and ran fantastically.

Minor maintenance now remains but the locomotive has now returned to steam and allows her to feature in the Autumn Steam Gala between the 12th and 14th October 2018.

This is brilliant news to hear, and we look forward to seeing 34072 in the future.
