Where and when to see steam locomotive 45690 Leander in Keighley and Skipton tomorrow

Leander steams out of Holyhead

Steam locomotive 45690 Leander will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Keighley and Skipton on Sunday 5th August 2018.

The Jubilee locomotive is on a special railtour tomorrow. 45690 is hauling The Waverley on Sunday.

The railtour departs York behind a diesel locomotive at approximately 09:36 am.

The railtour will then leave York, bound for Carlisle, where it will make stops at Leeds (10:12), Shipley (10:48), Keighley (11:00) and Skipton (11:18) before arriving at Hellifield Goods Loop at 11:40.

Here, No.45690 Leander will be added to the front of the train. The train will depart with Leander at 12:15, steaming through Ribblehead (12:51) and Kirkby Stephen (13:09), it will go non stop to Carlisle, where it will arrive at 14:24.

After around 2 hours in Carlisle, Leander will depart Carlisle at 16:16 bound for York. It will pass through Lazonby & Kirkoswalk (16:45) and will stop for water at Appleby (17:07).

Continuing down the Settle and Carlisle line, Leander will pass over the Ribblehead Viaduct at approx 18:07, continuing to Settle, the train comes off the Settle and Carlisle line at Settle Junction (18:23) where it heads for Hellifield at 18:29.

At Hellifield, Leander is refilled with water for the remaining journey and will take the same path back to York, calling at Skipton (19:46), Keighley (20:03), Shipley (20:16) and Leeds at 20:56.

The railtour will arrive back at its final destination of York at 21:51.
