St Albans South Signal Box has announced that members have been working on their major track laying project this week.

Wednesday 22nd August 2018 saw a number of members working on the project after the ground in the North West corner of the site had been prepared by plant clearance, leveling and the layout of geotextile sheets and sleepers.

Using some of the few permanent way tools available, the workers were able to move rail into place at the Signal Box site.

After some hours of hard work by the gang, the rail is in place, with some adjustments to the sleepers to be done.

Once this is complete, the rails can be fastened down and the track can then be ballasted.
