Talyllyn Railway launch Corris Coach Rebuilding Fund

The Talyllyn Railway has launched their Corris Coach Rebuilding Fund to help raise the funds to complete work on carriage No.17.

On Monday 20th August 2018, it was the 70th Anniversary of the last train to run on the original Corris Railway.

To mark the occasion, the railway has launched a fund for the restoration of the only operable original carriage from the railway, No. 17, which is based at the . It is in need of a rebuild after 60 years of service on the Talyllyn.

The carriage has been on display at Tywyn Wharf station along with Corris van 6 before being moved to Pendre in preparation for the restoration work to begin. The work is planned to take place in Tywyn but away from Pendre works.

The cost of the work is expecting to be around £20,000. However, the full extent of work is not yet known until the panelling is removed.
