Steam locomotive No.30587 to visit the Avon Valley Railway

The Avon Valley Railway have announced that steam locomotive LSWR Beattie No.30587 will be visiting for their End of Season Gala.

30587s visit is courtesy of the National Railway Museum and the Bodmin and Wenford Railway.

The locomotive joins the home fleet to provide a brilliant end to what has been a great season!

A brief history of 30587

30587 was on of 85 locomotives as part of the LSWR Beattie 2-4-0WT designed by Joseph Hamilton Beattie. This locomotive was built in 1874 at Nine Elms and had working life until being withdrawn. It was selected for preservation by the National Railway Museum in 1963. Since then, it has been based a number of preserved railways and visited others for galas.
