Steam locomotive 70000 Britannia to visit the Severn Valley Railway

The Severn Valley Railway has announced that steam locomotive No.70000 Britannia will be visiting the line for their Autumn Steam Gala.

The BR Britannia class locomotive will be visiting from the 20th September until the 23rd September 2018.

The locomotives visiting is thanks to the Icons of Steam.

70000 Britannia is visiting subject to a final running in as usual.

A brief history of 70000 Britannia

70000 Britannia first entered passenger service in 1951. It worked the train services from London to East Anglia and later worked on the West Coast Mainline. Now owned by Icons of Steam, the locomotive is seen on the mainline, however, she is currently undergoing overhaul and repairs to return her to mainline running condition.

The Autumn Steam Gala

The weekend will be full of steam trains thanks to visiting locomotives and the home fleet of locomotives. An intensive timetable will be in operation throughout the weekend.
