The South Devon Railway has announced that steam locomotive No.1450 will be visiting the line for their 50th Anniversary celebrations.

The locomotive is often seen with the autocoaches, Nos. 178 and 238, who are owned by the same owner. The has also announced that chocolate and cream No.178 will be joining 1450 for its visit.

The locomotives visit is thanks to the Severn Valley Railway.

More locomotives and information about the 50th-anniversary celebrations will be announced in due course.

A brief history of 1450

The locomotive was built in 1935 as No.4850, first entering service in July 1935 at Oxford. The locomotive was renumbered 1450 by GWR and allocated to Slough in 1951. 1450 was re-allocated to Oxford in 1959, which then was followed by allocations to Exeter (1962), Taunton (1963) and Yeovil Town (1964) before a final move to Exmouth Junction in 1965. No.1450 was withdrawn in 1965, after working a total of 823,012 miles in service.

1450 spent early preservation life at the South Devon Railway (then Dart Valley Railway). She was then purchased and moved to the Dean Forest Railway, then the Severn Valley Railway in March 2014.
