ScotRail Foundation relaunches £70,000 charitable funds

The ScotRail Foundation has announced that its Cultural and Arts fund is doubling the size of its grants.

The Fund will be giving grants of between £500 and £5,000 from the £60,000 fund in supports children, activities and sports.

Previously, the maximum award was just £2,000.

Grants are available to individuals and groups whose income is less than £100,000 a year. People who are interested are now being encouraged to apply before the closing date for applications, 29th October 2018.

employees can also benefit from the Foundation's £10,000 Employee Giving Fund. This ‘Match Funding' of up to £250 could be awarded to employees when fundraising for their charity of choice.

Broughty Ferry YMCA recently won a grant of £1,925 to build a community secret garden to help socially isolated older people to build and maintain friendships.

Men in Recovery, who are a charity who support male survivors of sexual abuse, was award £2,000 to hold training sessions with healthcare workers.

What did the officials say?

James Ledgerwood, Head of Economic and Community Development at the ScotRail Alliance, said:

“It's fantastic to see the real difference that these grants are making to peoples' lives across Scotland, and I'm delighted that we have been able to increase the size of the grants on offer.

“We know how important the railway is to the communities we serve, and we want to do all we can to strengthen and support that link.

Giles Ruck, CEO of Foundation Scotland, said:

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with ScotRail. Since we began working together in 2016, over £170K has been distributed to grassroots projects across Scotland.

“By choosing Foundation Scotland to manage the fund, ScotRail can be confident the fund will have lasting impact in communities across the country.”
