RMT has confirmed that they will be more strike action taking place by transplant train maintenance and stores staff at London Underground's Ruislip Depot.

Two 48-hour strikes from the 22nd August and through the following Bank Holiday weekend will take place as management at the depot continue to make progress with the tube union on the disputes.

The strike action is because of disputes about pay parity and payments associated with train preparation based on the duties staff undertake in their role.

The action coincides with a programme of track works over the bank holiday weekend. This includes joint Ballast Track Replacement works at Wimbledon alongside Network Rail. Ballast Track Replacement forms the build of TransPlant's work and has to be supported by engineering vehicles which come from Ruislip Depot.

The strike action is as follows:

  • 48hrs: Wednesday 22/08/18 07:00 – 07:00 Friday 24/08/18
  • 48hrs: Friday 24/08/18 19:00 -19:00 Sunday 26/08/18
What did the officials say?

General Secretary Mick Cash said:

“RMT is angry and frustrated that our efforts to reach a negotiated settlement to this dispute continue to be kicked back at every turn by London Underground and as a result we have no choice but to escalate the action with these two forty eight hour strikes coinciding with a major programme of works on the network across the Bank Holiday weekend.

“Despite previous industrial action there has been no serious move by London Underground to resolve these disputes and the company need to wake up and take note of the anger on the shop floor.

“The union continues to remain available for meaningful talks in both disputes and the ball is in London Underground's court.”
