On Monday 27th August, the Mid Suffolk Light Railway held a service to remember the MSLR staff who was killed whilst on active service during World War 1.

50 staff were working on the Middy when war broke out in 1914. Those who answered the calls to the colours, five never returned.

This year it is the 100th anniversary of the conflict. The Mid Suffolk Light Railway has raised a memorial to commemorate the staff.

The memorial will also commemorate volunteers of the heritage railway who have passed away.

The service was conducted by the Vicar of Wetheringsett, the Reverent Julia Lill. Proceedings were introduced to railway visitors and Wetheringsett villagers by the Middy Vice Chairman, Ian Meigh.

The memorial can be found with easy access just along from The MSLR Restoration Shed at Brockford Station.
