The LMS-Patriot Project has announced that the inner firebox for steam locomotive No.45551 The Unknown Warrior has been trial fitted.
The work was completed on Thursday 26th July 2018.
45551's inner firebox was fitted to the outer wrapper at West Shed, Butterley, by Heritage Boiler Steam Services Ltd.
The two parts fit perfectly together, which is a great credit to the quality of work in which Heritage Boiler Steam Services is completing for the Patriot.
This is another major milestone in the construction of the locomotive and is one step closer to seeing the locomotive steam for the first time.
