Chiltern Railways has announced that sustainable lighting has been installed at High Wycombe railway station.

The Arrive UK train company is committed to helping the environment and has replaced around 500 internal and external lights to LEDs.

These are much more energy efficient and will last longer than the outgoing lights.

The new lighting should use around 60% less power which will help contribute towards Chiltern's environmental targets.

What did the officials say?

Alan Riley, Customer Services Director said:

“We're pleased to have successfully installed these new LEDs at High Wycombe station last week and would like to thank customers for their patience whilst the work took place.

“This is another example of our commitment to addressing environmental challenges and we will be closely monitoring the impact of the new lighting with a view to rolling out the initiative across the route.”

  • Every railway station across the UK (including in Wales, England, Scotland and Northern Ireland) and Republic of Ireland should also have LED lighting at stations to help with the environment.

But good on Chiltern Railways. Plus Greater Anglia are also starting to replace lighting at most stations on its network with new LED lighting.
