Great Western Railway has announced that they will be giving Newquay station a new look to celebrate Cornwall Price, which takes place during the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Special rainbow signs will replace the existing Newquay station signage along with the addition of bunting on the platform.
The train operating company has also teamed up with First Kernow to ensure passengers wanting to attend the celebration can travel by bus and train with ease.
Extra buses have been arranged from St Austell to supplement trains in and out of Newquay.
Thousands are expected to pass through Newquay to take part in the eleventh year of Cornwall Pride.
Great Western Railway was one of the first train companies in Britain to launch a special ‘trainbow' liveried train.
What did the officials say?
GWR Business Assurance Director Joe Graham said:
“We're proud to be supporting Cornwall Pride and making Newquay station such a colourful welcome for customers using the station over the Bank Holiday weekend.”
Cornwall Pride Chairperson Matthew Kenworthy Gomes, said:
“We're over the rainbow to have Great Western Railway support Cornwall Pride this year. We expect this year to be the best attended event yet with more than 5,000 people likely to visit Newquay during Pride weekend.”
First Kernow Managing Director Alex Carter, said:
“We hope by teaming-up with GWR and Cornwall Pride we can continue to help serve Cornwall and the growing popularity of this annual event.”
