Class 20 locomotive to attend Nene Valley Railway Diesel Gala

The Nene Valley Railway has announced that Class 20 locomotive No.20059 will be attending for their Diesel Gala 2018.

The heritage railway will be holding their Diesel Gala on the 12th, 13th & 14th October 2018.

Tickets are now on sale for one, two or three-day rovers. Please see the NVR website to book your tickets.

20059 joins 31162 A1A and 50008 Garcia Hanson at the diesel gala, with more visitors to be announced soon.

The locomotives visit is thanks to the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway.

A brief history of 20059

D8059, or 20059 under TOPS, is a BR Class 20 Bo-Bo diesel-electric locomotive. It was built in 1961 by Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn Ltd and entered service in May 1961 at Sheffield Darnall depot. In 1964, it was transferred to Tinsley Depot where it worked until it was withdrawn in 1990.

In June 2017, the locomotive was described as ‘operational, although no longer used by the Severn Valley Railway' and in October 2017 the locomotive arrived at the Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway.
