The Mid Hants Railway, or The Watercress Line, has announced that steam locomotive No.45379 will bow out of service in September as her overhaul approaches.

The Black 5 will haul her final trains on the 8th and 9th September 2018 as her boiler ticket runs out.

45379 is one of the Mid Hants Railway resident locomotives, having arrived at the heritage railway in 2002.

This is a perfect opportunity to come and say goodbye to the locomotive ahead of an extended period being out of service.

Whats the need for an overhaul?

Steam locomotives work incredibly hard hauling passengers around, and all the parts need a repair or clean up every now and again. Running repairs are carried out when they can, but parts do need repairing and cleaning up to make sure they are spick and span ready for being really useful engines once again for another ten years.

Can I help?

The work is lengthy and requires money to carry out the work. Being a volunteer railway, the Mid Hants Railway thank everyone for donating. If you would like to donate to the railway to help bring 45379 back to steam, then please click here.
