Locomotive No. D9537 ‘Eric’ set to the visit the North Norfolk Railway

Diesel locomotive Class 14 No.D9537 Eric has been announced this evening to visit the North Norfolk Railway over the summer period.

D8537 makes his visit to the courtesy of the East Lancashire Railway.

Eric will be assisting the North Norfolk Railway with their diesel services over the summer season and will also be helping to run services during the steam ban, which is currently in place in Norfolk.

The locomotive will be assisting 20227 Sherlock Holmes and the railways DMUs with the running until the weather changes.

A brief history of D9537 Eric

D9537 was built in 1965 at the British Railway's Swindon Works. Work for the Class 14 was shunting duties as well as short distance freight trains. This ‘Teddy Bear' (the nickname for the Class 14s by enthusiasts) arrived at the in 2013 and returned to service in 2014 and has visited the Spa Valley Railway and Ecclesbourne Valley Railway for special events.
