The Didcot Railway Centre has released an update on their restoration work of steam locomotive No.3650.

The progress on the pannier tank was made on Saturday 21st July 2018 with the removal of the locomotives cladding and lagging.

3650s boiler barrel cladding has been removed, which exposes the lagging. The firebox cladding screws are still being removed by the team undertaking the work.

Tarpaulin has been placed under the boiler, this keeps the flaking red oxide and rust dust out of the inside motion of the locomotive.

Finally, a start has been made on removing the bolts which secure the smokebox to the cylinder block. This was undertaken after the tank support bracket was removed.

This weekends work were undertaken by the team of Tim, Geoff, Will, Leigh, Ben, Steven, Fraser and Kevin.

Its great to see work being carried out to 3650, and we look forward to what the future holds for this lovely locomotive.
