The Avon Valley Railway will be holding a fundraising event in order to raise funds for steam locomotive No.7151's overhaul.

The first departure will be at 6:15 pm on Wednesday 18th July 2018.

7151 was one of a number of steam locomotives used by a variety of Midland power stations. 7151 was moved to Bitton in 1980 and following some minor repairs and the fitment of steam heat equipment she entered service at the in the same year, hauling Santa Specials on the line. The locomotive proved herself as a workhorse and became a favorite at the railway.

The locomotive was withdrawn from service in 2014 and has since been stored awaiting her turn in the overhaul queue. Now, a small team of volunteers are beginning to strip the locomotive down in order to begin the overhaul and the engines road to returning to steam.
