The Lappa Valley Railway, and their Operation Manager Ben, have released a June update on their fleet of diesel and steam locomotives.

Ellie

Ellie is a steam locomotive. She worked most of the trains in the winter period, which included all of the Santa Specials. Apart from a pre-season clean and a boiler washout, Ellie has seen very little done to her. The locomotive is performing faultlessly and has now been put on the weekly roster.

Ruby has returned to regular traffic following work on her ‘bottom end' which included her wheels, valves and pistons. She has been out of traffic since October and returned back to steam around a month ago.

After her running in, the locomotive is now sharing the work between Ellie and Zebedee. The locomotive has also now passed her annual boiler exam – this took place in May.

Zebedee, another of the railways steam locomotives, has returned after a winter out of action have work completed on her. This work included new water tank liners and a new sander. The sanders required new water tank liners to be fabricated to allow them to be incorperated in to the locomotive.

Muffin

Steam locomotive Muffin is coming to end of its boiler overhaul and is in the paiting stafe. Unfortunately, due to a couple of delays, the locomotive has been away from the railway longer than expected. The railway intends to have the locomotive back in June for testing and running in to begin.

Arthur

The little diesel locomotive is performing well. No maintenance has had to be done in recent months. Arthur has been operating the majority of the works trains over the winter months. Since running began, it has been a useful station pilot and shunting locomotive.

City of Derby

This locomotive is currently in service after a winter period of having some work completed on the throttle and hydraulic linkage. City of Derby is currently used to operate a second train on busy days.

10.25″ Gauge

Duke of Cornwall

This western locomotive is rarely on public servicesm however it is currently covering for Eric. Last year, the locomotive saw a new radiator installed and new coolant pipes installed.

Eric

Eric is the main locomotive used on the line, however, the locomotive has left the line to go to the Exmoor Steam Railway for work on its wheels and connecting rods.
