Class 66 locomotive for Midland Railway Butterley Diesel Gala

The Midland Railway Butterley has announced that the Class 66 locomotive which will be visiting the line for their Gala has been confirmed.

DB Cargo has confirmed that the Class 66 that will be visiting the line will be 66136.

66136 is unique because it was the first representative of its class to haul the UK – China container train back in 2017.

66136 is a type of Class 66 locomotive and was built in 1999 and is based at Toton TMD.

British Rail class 66 locomotives are a diesel-electric locomotive which operates in the UK. Class 66 locomotives were developed from the Class 59 locomotives. The first 66 arrived in the UK in 1998 and was taken to Derby for testing. Ever since they have been a popular sight around the UK on various freight movements.
