Following the news of Bossman Games releasing their long-awaited Black 5 steam locomotive add-on for Train Simulator, we are pleased to bring you our first look.

The above clip shows you some footage that we have recorded of the new add-on.

The pack comes with a variety of different features, such as opening smokebox door, different headboards, different light formations, and the token system used on the Fort William to Mallaig line.

We have been impressed by how the locomotives work and are highly detailed with opening doors and buttons to press – careful on the accelerator though, these are heavy locomotives and will slip!

The pack includes the obvious trio of Black 5s – Ian Riley’s 44871 and 45407 ‘The Lancashire Fusilier’ feature, along with the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway Black 5 No. 45212 – these are all fitted with AWS and modern signalling equipment for use on the mainline, as well as the signalling system used on the Fort William – Mallaig route.

Also featured in the pack is 45157 ‘The Glasgow Highlander’, which 45407 is in the guise of for the 2018 season. To top it off, there is a raft of preserved black 5s for you to drive on preserved or quick drive routes.

Cost and buying

The cost of this add-on is £14.99 and is available to purchase through the Steam Store here. So far, the pack is definitely worth the price you pay!
