The Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway have announced that on the 30th May 2018 there will be no steam trains in service.

The cancellation is due to there being a shortage of train volunteers, which has left the heritage railway with no other choice other than to make this announcement.

The heritage railway is 100% volunteer-run railway and they rely on the volunteers for every aspect of the railway, from maintenance to restoration and operation of services.

On occasions, events outside of the railway’s hands result in volunteers not being available.
