The Helston Railway will be welcoming steam trains back to the branch line this May Bank Holiday.

Yes, that's right, the long-awaited return to see steam locomotives working the line is nearly over.

Visiting Somerset and Dorset Railway Trust owned Peckett ‘Kilmersdon' will be in operation during the Return to the 1940s event on the 27 and 28th May 2018.

The first steam hauled passenger train will depart Prospidnick Halt on 27th May at 10.30am.

What did the officials say?

Marketing Director Ben Harding comments:

“Our popular Return to the 1940's event this year is made even more special by the return of steam passenger trains to the line for the first time in over 55 years. This, as well as military vehicles, period music and 1940s displays, is set to make a firm favourite in the calendar”
