Are you visiting North Wales this Bank Holiday Weekend? Visit the Ffestiniog Railway in Porthmadog and you will be able to ride on the footplate of a steam locomotive up and down the sidings of the station.

Being held on Sunday and Monday, the footplate rides are on a donation basis, and there are much appreciated and will go to the upkeep of the locomotives.

The steam locomotives in use for the Footplate Rides will be Hunslet 0-4-0ST ‘Hugh Napier', who was built in 1904 and is owned by the National Trust (operated by the ) and/or Hunslet 0-4-0ST ‘Lilla', who was built in 1891 and is owned by the Ffestiniog Railway.

This is a great opportunity to experience the fun of being ‘up top' on a steam locomotive – once you do it, you will want another go!

You can either add it on to your trip around Snowdonia, or why not have a trip on the Welsh Highland Railway to Caernarfon, or on the Ffestiniog Railway to Blaenau Ffestiniog, both railways have views that will give you the ‘wow' factor.
