Bank Holiday Monday is here again and here are three railways running in this fine weather – the perfect opportunity for a ride.

Below is information on the Thompson Park Railway, Telford Steam Railway and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Running from 12-4, this 7¼” railway in Burnley, Lancashire makes the perfect day, have a ride on the railway, play in the park, and sunbathe on the grass. Different locomotives will be out hauling passengers around the 1-mile long circuit. Tickets are just £1 per person for the approx 7-minute ride, or why not buy a super saver, 12 rides for the price of 10 and ride behind all the locomotives in operation.

The Telford Steam Railway will be operating this Bank Holiday Monday using Steam Tram No. 272 on the standard gauge line, with the miniature and model railways also open. Eat an ice cream in the cafe and enjoy the lovely weather. Trains run to a timetable from 11 until 16:30 approx and the ticket prices are £6 Adults, £5 Seniors, £4 Children, £15 Family Ticket (2 adults + 2 children) – a perfect day out for all.

Now is your chance to find out at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, join the teams at Pickering, Levisham and Grosmont for an insight into how the railway operates. The railway is operating the red timetable and allows you to get off at some of the intermediate stations on the railway, like Goathland – used for filming in both Heartbeat and Harry Potter! Fares for this Bank Holiday Monday is £26 Adult, £13 Child and £54 Family (2A + 2C).
