The General Steam Navigation Society has released their May update on the steam locomotive and society.

The beginning of May saw the society hold their first working party of the year on the locomotive at Sellindge. The aim of the party was to get a coat of protective paint on the boiler, trail fit a couple of the new components that the society have recently sourced.

Also carried out was more conservation work to make sure the locomotive is kept in good condition.

Also at the working party was the completed nameplated, which was on display with the locomotive.

May has also seen the Society switch web hosts which have enabled the society to set up an online emailing system for the General Steam Navigation. The new system will allow the society to contact members about the developments rather than waiting for a Packet episode every 4 months.

How can I help?

If you want to see this locomotive back in steam, then why not become a member of The General Steam Navigation Locomotive Restoration Society. Membership costs just £10 for the year. Members will be kept up to date with the latest updates and will receive their Magazine ‘The Packet’ three times a year.  You can sign up by visiting our membership page here.
