The Department for Transport has today announced that London North Eastern Railway will be taking over train services from Virgin Trains East Coast.
Your journeys on the East Coast Mainline will be unaffected during the transition to the new operator, tickets, timetables, and train services will all stay the same, even though a different operator will be in charge.
There will be a short transition, so any passengers should carry on using Virgin Trains East Coast's customer and ticket booking services.
All tickets booked with Virgin Trains East Coast will be valid on all London North Eastern Railway.
Under the new operator, ticket prices will not change immediately, any other future changes will be in line with the market.
Employees working for Virgin Trains East Coast will transfer over to LNER. No disruption is expected to services in the transfer, and you will still receive a high-quality service from Staff.
Trains on the East Coast Mainline will gradually transfer to LNER branding from VTEC branding.
London North Eastern Railway will be taking over the East Coast Mainline from 24th June 2018.

Does that mean Class 800’s and Class 801’s will still be delivered and to start service on the East Coast Main Line from July this year. As the new franchise will take over in June.
