The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust has issued its latest update with regards to the repair work on steam locomotive No. 60163 Tornado
Following on from Tornado's failure during ‘The Ebor Flyer' railtour, and subsequently being hauled by a Class 66 diesel locomotive to the Nene Valley Railway, the investigations have continued and are now drawing to a close – when these investigations are complete, the trust will publish the key findings (keep an eye on our news page for the latest news).
The priority has been the investigation, although, the repair activity is proceeding well and the trust is grateful to their suppliers who have responded quickly to manufacture the new components.
The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust is also grateful to Locomotive Services Ltd and Jeremy Hosking who have loaned components from A2 Blue Peter as to speed up the repairs on Tornado.
Extended thanks have gone to DB Cargo from the Trust for their continued support in this investigation.
The trust anticipates that the repairs will conclude in June. This will then enable running in activity to commence and mainline tests to take place.
Tornado will hopefully then be back on the mainline in July and will be hauling the RAF100 train from Lincoln to London on the 10th July 2018.

Operations Director Graeme Bunker-James said:
‘We are pleased to say that progress is positive in returning Tornado to operation. We apologise to those who have had their plans disrupted and hope that those affected will be able to travel behind Tornado very soon.'
