The General Steam Navigation Locomotive Restoration Society (GSNLRS) have released their April 2018 Update.
Heritage Railway Association (HRA)
The Society pleased to announce that they now apart of the HRA. The association is a voluntary run trade association representing Heritage & Tourist railways, related Museums, Tramways, Cliff Lifts, Railway Preservation Groups and related organisations. First working weekend
This bank holiday weekend (Saturday 5th to Monday 7th) sees the first working weekend on 35011 of 2018. Work mostly focused on protecting the components on the engine, such as the coupled wheels, which have been painted.
As can be seen from the photo, one of the newly-cast Nameplates was displayed next to the locomotive.
Manufacturing of new components
Progress has been made on a couple of parts currently being made for 35011. With the Bluebell Railway kindly lending the trust some valves to replicate, work on the Klinger valves can continue. The dust covers have been fabricated, ready for trial fitting on the working weekend.
“The Packet”
Issue 7 of “The Packet” will be distributed out to members of the GSNLRS at the end of May. Membership only costs £10 a year, further information can be found on the GSNLRS' website, with the link to this website at the bottom of this article.
