Ahead of the wedding of HRH Prince Harry and Ms Markle in Windsor, Great Western Railway and South Western Railway have announced extra trains to get you where you want to be.

Both train operating companies have announced that they are laying on extra trains and a more frequent service from early morning to late into the evening/

With more than 100,000 people expected to travel to Windsor to join in the celebrations, passengers are being advised of long queues at key stations so they should allow extra journey time.

will be running at maximum capacity on the Windsor Branch Line, but services on Saturday 19th May will be extremely busy.

A queuing system will be in operation at Slough, Windsor and Eton Central to get passengers to and from the event as quickly as possible.

Train services have been increased from 2 carriages to 4, which is the maximum that the branch line can take safely) and will run every 20 minutes throughout the day.

will be increasing their frequency to 4 direct, ten carriage train services an hour from London Waterloo to Windsor and Eton Riverside, but again, trains will be extremely busy.

A queuing system for South Western Railway will be in operation at London Waterloo, Staines (where passengers travelling from the western part of the route should change at), Windsor and Eton Riverside.

Customers planning to travel from the London area are being advised to use South Western Railway services from London Waterloo to Windsor and Eton Riverside.

Passengers travelling from the West, South Wales and the Cotswolds are being advised to travel to Reading and change for GWR services to Slough.

With a large number of passengers travelling, Great Western Railway and South Western Railway are recommending the following:

  • Keep baggage to a minimum:
    • Thames Valley Police and British Transport Police will conduct security checks and excess luggage could delay your journey.
  • Wear sensible clothes for the weather conditions.
  • Stagger your journey home: both Windsor stations will be extremely busy. GWR and SWR will provide regular updates on the day through our twitter feeds @GWRhelp and @SW_Help
What did the officials say?

This will be one of the largest ever one-day events that has taken place on our network and our aim is to ensure our customers have a great day out and enjoy what will be an international spectacle.”
