Grand Central Rail has given customers a preview of its new look as the first of ten refurbished trains took to the tracks on route to London.
The £9 million programme will continue throughout 2018, including the five trains which recently arrived from Great Western Railway.
The interior and exterior overhaul has been designed with business and leisure passengers in mind.
Grand Central was recently voted number one train operator for customer satisfaction. This upgrade will only help this grow.
The upgrade includes
- Interior refresh
- New seats
- New floor throughout
- Exterior and interior repaint
- Upgraded catering facilities
- Refitted toilet facilities, with disabled access
- LED lighting
- Power sockets
What did the officials say?
Dave Hatfield, Grand Central's Fleet Director, said:
“We're delighted to bring this refurbished Adelante train back into service and let our customers see what we have been working on behind the scenes. The refurbishment programme is well underway and will continue throughout 2018. Our five newly acquired trains will also be rebranded in Grand Central livery as part of the improvement programme.”

At least the Class 180’s will be staying with Grand Central because they are very good reliable trains and Grand Central could introduce new services such as London Kings Cross to Hartlepool, Scarborough, Sunderland and Harrogate.
