As part of the long-term improvement plan, Network Rail will be conducting preparation works for the Elizabeth line over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend on Saturday 5 May to Monday 7 May in the Slough area.

Chiltern Railways will be unaffected by these works and will be the main route to London over the weekend for passengers in the Oxford area.

The train operating company, or TOC, has, therefore, announced they will be adding 18754 extra seats on its services this weekend to provide extra capacity for those expected to travel on the line.

The TOC is running from all stations on the Oxford line including Oxford Parkway, which has 850 car parking spaces.

For those travelling to the SSE Women's Cup Final on 5 May, most trains will be calling at Wembley Stadium Station before and after the game.

What did the officials say?

Eleni Jordan, Commercial Director for , said:

“During improvement work, as an industry, we want to make sure everyone who wants to travel by rail can do so. This is especially important on a Bank Holiday Weekend when so many people head for a day out by train. We have added 18,000 additional seats over the weekend on the Chiltern line to provide capacity for any additional people that wish to travel with us between Oxford and London Marylebone and we'll have extra people at our stations to help and advise.”
