The Mid Hants Railway, also known as The Watercress Line, have announced that they have managed to raise their target of £4,000 for the new cab roof of steam locomotive No.80150.
The donations have flooded in and the Mid Hants Railway have completed this part of the appeal in just 10 weeks.
The railway can now proceed with the fabrication and fitting of the cab roof. The roof will help protect an area of the loco that has sustained the most damage. The corrosion of frames, frame stretcher and bogie beneath the cab roof has meant the locomotive cannot move without de-railing.
With further work, the railway hopes to be able to move the locomotive and potentially have it on display sometime in 2018.
