Most of the recent work carried out on 7200 has been on the engine’s boiler. Work has continued on cutting the heads off the screws holding the foundation ring to the outer wrapping of the firebox.

Machining of the superheater’s face has also continued.

The decision has been made to replace the front section of the boiler barrel, along with new smokebox and tubeplate. Using new parts will reduce both cost and time over restoring parts.

Whether using new parts or restoring old ones, the Trust requires funds to be able to make or repairs parts. The Trust appreciates any donations they receive, helping them take one step closer to having 7200 in steam.
