The UK has entered into its third day of severe weather conditions with heavy snow and ice still around for most of us as we head into the weekend. East Midlands Trains has today confirmed that it will run a reduced service across some of its routes.
Passengers are being advised to check the EMT website before travelling and to take extra care when travelling to or from stations.
Remember, if you don't absolutely need to travel, it may be better to stay at home, keep warm, and travel another day.
Belos is the following service changes currently in place:
London St Pancras – Nottingham – Derby – Sheffield route
A reduced service is planned for most of today, with around 50% of the normal planned service running. Passengers are being advised not to travel today on this route. Tickets can be used on either Saturday 3rd March or Sunday 4th March 2018.
Nottingham – Grantham – Skegness route
Trains are scheduled to run between Nottingham and Sleaford ONLY. No trains between Sleaford and Skegness are planned to run at the moment, though this may change throughout the day, please keep an eye on the EMT website.
Derby – Crewe route
NO services planned between Derby and Crewe at the time of writing, please check with East Midlands Trains in case the situation has improved.
Leicester – Nottingham – Lincoln – Grimsby route
No trains are currently running between Lincoln Central and Grimsby Town. Passengers are advised not to travel as there are no trains stopping at the following stations:
- Market Rasen
- Barnetby
- Haborough
- Grimsby Town
- Cleethorpes.
Matlock – Derby – Nottingham route
Trains aren't currently running on this route, although are likely to resume shortly. Currently, services from Sheffield to London are calling at Duffield and Belper in both directions as additional stops.
Nottingham – Mansfield – Worksop route
Trains are running on this route, although at a reduced rate. One train per hour is running in each direction between Nottingham and Worksop.
Liverpool Lime Street – Nottingham – Norwich route
Trains aren't running currently between Sheffield and Liverpool Lime Street due to the closure of the Hope Valley Line. This is expected to reopen today.
Peterborough – Lincoln – Doncaster route
Services are currently running on original schedule today.

Jake Kelly, Managing Director of East Midlands Trains, said: “We have seen worsening conditions across many parts of our network with the heavy snow and ice causing snow drifts, frozen signalling equipment and damage to our trains, and the weather forecast is showing that the severe weather will continue into this afternoon and evening.
“Along with Network Rail, who manage the rail infrastructure, we are working hard to provide the best service we can to customers and have extra staff out at stations clearing snow and helping customers with their travel and our own staff are working under some extremely difficult conditions.
“We will only run trains where it is absolutely safe to do so however which means we are having to provide a reduced service on many of our routes today.
“Our firm advice for customers is to check before travel and only travel if your journey is necessary. There are full details on our website of how tickets can be used on different days and different services and we'll also keep the website updated with the latest information on our services.”
