Three more diesels joins line-up for Severn Valley Railway Spring Diesel Festival

The Severn Valley Railway (SVR) has announced that Class 47 No. 47292, a GBRf Class 66 and a GBRf Class 73/1 will be attending their Spring Diesel Festival in May this year.

About 47292

47292 is privately owned and based on the Great Central Railway Nottingham, among other diesels. The 47 carries BR Blue, but with a Large BR ‘Double Arrow' Logo. The choose a 47 for the 2018 Festival as the two which appeared last year's Festival was popular with visitors.

About the GBRf Class 66

GB Railfreight (GBRf) operates a fleet of around 78 Class 66s, being a popular class of diesel locomotives to haul freight across the UK. They were first constructed in the Late 90s/Early 00s. GBRf's livery for the Class 66s can be seen in the picture.

 

About the GBRf Class 73/1

As well as operating diesel Class 66s, GBRf also operates electro-diesel Class 73/1s. The 73/1s were turned out from the Vulcan Foundry by English Electric in the 1960s for use on British Railways. Their current livery can be seen in the picture.

 

Spring Diesel Festival 2018

This now makes 10 confirmed Guests joining home fleet diesels for the festival. The festival has a broad range of diesels, with engines of various classes and ages, making the event prefect for diesel enthusiasts of both 20th and 21st-century diesels .
