The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, in West Yorkshire, has announced that BR Standard 7 No. 70013 “Oliver Cromwell” will be attending their 2018 Spring Steam Gala in March.

The visit is courtesy of the National Railway Museum and the 5305 Locomotive Association.

About 70013 “Oliver Cromwell”

Saved for preservation by the National Railway Museum and placed in the national collection, most of 70013's preserved life has been spent inside Bressingham Steam & Gardens as a static display.

In 2004, however, it was decided to put a new lease of life back into 70013 by overhauling the engine, ready for hauling 40th-anniversary trains on the mainline in 2008.

Ever since then, 70013 has been a popular engine on both the mainline and heritage lines, in particular, the Great Central Railway, where 70013 is based when not on the mainline, where maintenance work is also carried out.

70013 carries BR Lined Green with late crest livery.

About the 2018 Spring Gala

70013 ‘Oliver Cromwell' joins 7F No. 53808 and Black 5 No. 44871, along with the home fleet of locomotives for 3 days full of steam.

An intensive timetable will be in operation over the course of the weekend. With freight trains and passenger trains, and doubleheaders, the weekend is one not to be missed.

Tickets and other information will be announced in due course.
